After twenty years of working for two of music and television’s best loved brands, Wayne Isaak set off on his own to start Isaak Entertainment in New York City.
In the past six years, he has: 1.) managed major label recording artists (EMI’s Richard Marx, Geffen’s Fiction Plan, Columbia’s Ari Hest); 2.) co-produced TV specials (NBC’s “Elvis Lives”); 3.) booked music and celebrity talent (“Live Earth” Worldwide concert event, CMT’s “Crossroads” series ’03-’05, the International Emmy’s); and 4.) consulted music and media companies (Warner Bros Records, Wire Image, Discovery Intl., CMT).
He is also nearing completion of the book, lyrics and music for an original rock musical, entitled “Fist of Sand.” Isaak Entertainment will begin production on the play this Fall in New York City.
His breadth of endeavors have been, in part, fueled by his rich experiences working at A&M Records (’82—’94) and VH1 (’94—’01) in their golden era’s.
Beginning in ’94, Isaak teamed with network President John Sykes and a progressively new team to turn VH1 into a more profitable, popular and critically lauded TV channel. Using his keen sense of how to brand and image the channel with the best new artists, Isaak used his position to lend early support and development to acts like Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Hootie and the Blowfish, Seal, Joan Osborne, Blues Traveler, Shania Twain and Faith Hill. He was responsible for creating and co-producing some of the highest rated programming events in VH1 history in the guise of “Divas” (’98, ’99, ’00). Entertainment Weekly named him to their ’99 “It List” as one of entertainment’s brightest people that year.
As Executive VP of Music Talent and Programming at VH1, he guided music programming and helped create ancillary programs and businesses, like “Tickets First,” “Opening Night Live” and various CD, DVD and home video releases. He executive produced several Platinum selling CD’s and another dozen albums.
Sykes brought Isaak over from A&M Records, where he had worked his way up over more than 12 years from head of Publicity in Los Angeles to Executive VP of the East Coast Operations in New York City. He was a key executive to star artists like Sheryl Crow, Soundgarden, Sting, Al Green, Janet Jackson and Bryan Adams, to name a few.
Isaak and his family live in New York City.
